What is a smoke?
Tipped cats are genetically a silver cat with the colour appearing on the very ends of the hair. The proportion of silver and colour varies from a tiny amount (with the cat appearing almost white) through being moderately tipped (almost shaded) to being almost a solid colour with the silver close to the body (this is called a smoke).

What is a British longhair?

Tipped cats were originally created from mating between Persian Chinchillas and British Shorthairs.
The longhaired gene is carried by some Tipped cats and when they produce kittens the doubling up of this gene produces British Longhairs.
These are delightful kittens which go on to make stunning cats. Their coat is a semi -longhair which does not seem to knot or tangle as much as the Persian. Like all cats they require regular brushing and combing and are started at a young age to become familiar with the process. They have a lovely open face and no problems with weeping eyes.
Although not recognised by the GCCF, they are accepted byTICA as a new Breed and can be shown at TICA Shows in the UK.

What is a shaded?
Shaded cats are midway between a tipped and a smoke
